Rouba El Helou
It is important to emphasize in this region, that a lot of people try to negate the fact that we have individual freedom. We are forced to remain in our groups, especially in Lebanon, in order to realize our potential. This is not enough! Freedom is a responsibility for everyone. The danger of the “laissez-faire” system is that it assumes that my freedom ends where your freedom begins. Individual rights are very important, but it is also important to see them in a social context. Otherwise, they will become threats to human rights and therefore to freedom. If we want to have a chance at saving this country, we have to see freedom as a collective responsibility. I am afraid that we are heading somewhere where we view freedom as a luxury; it is supposed to be accessible for All.
